THE STRATEGY
Regenerating what would become some of London’s most sought-after areas, Andreas was instrumental in making top London destinations, such as Islington, Hackney and Clerkenwell, the buzzing communities they are today.
Pioneering build-to-let in many of London’s busiest rental markets, such as Islington, Hackney and Clerkenwell, the Group spearheaded the exponential growth in London’s residential lettings from its early beginnings.
Harnessing demand with build-to-let and property management, Andreas soon had a long-term plan in place, building over £1 billion worth of assets with a stock of over 7000 new residential units in top London postcodes.
THE PASSION
Under Andreas’ visionary leadership the Ability Group has expanded rapidly over the last 30 years, curating a diverse property portfolio underpinned by a robust income which includes turnover leases and managed assets. Taking the Group to new heights in the early noughties, the company became London’s biggest landlord after undertaking a series of new build projects.
Beginning with the Kingsland Road development in East London, the Group went on to build commercial and residential developments in Islington with over 1,000 new apartments and 50 retail units. Large-scale new build residential developments in Canary Wharf soon followed which included the construction of: Ability Place, 850-apartment Ability View, Ability Towers, Ability Plaza and more.
Spotting the saturation of the London residential market early, Andreas redirected the Group’s attention to the hotel sector, adding a fast-growing number of UK and European Hotels to the Group’s large portfolio. Such a timely re-direction meant the company avoided the devastating impact of the 2008 international economic crisis in the years which followed.
Today, the Ability Group owns a rich range of luxury hotel assets, spanning the length and breadth of the UK as well as many hotels across Europe. Our partners include: Hilton, Doubletree by Hilton, Hampton by Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Radisson, Park Inn, Club Med, Travelodge and Premier Inn.
THE FUTURE
This strength in depth has enabled the Group to ride the waves of the reported economic crisis over 3 decades; self-financing through the COVID 19 Pandemic, and now being primed to take the Group forwards. In many ways the journey has just begun.
Andreas’s business interests are a direct reflection of his personality. Focussed, driven, innovative but with an underlying sense of fairness and equity. His recent relocation to Greece is a s a direct consequence of his desire to embrace a different culture and a different way of living – but at the heart the underlying principles of his culture and his focus on family are directly in line with his new home.
